Progress, innovation and growth – what we’ve been doing and why we’ve been doing it at the Corrugated Case Company

To say that it has been a busy period at the Corrugated Case Company over the past year would be something of an understatement.

As the old saying goes, if you stand still you go backwards and our latest developments will ensure that we’re heading very much in a forward direction.

Evolution and innovation are two words that are really important to us – we want to drive a forward-thinking and progressive culture not just for our staff but for the benefit of you, our customers.

What does that mean in practice? It means ensuring we have the brightest and best people working for us – and by extension you – who are engaged and passionate about what we do.

It’s also about ensuring you, our valued customers, have a great experience – from viewing the website, speaking with staff to the final products and solutions we offer you.

It’s also about us moving forward, being at the forefront of design and innovation and offering the best, sustainable, responsible solutions for you and your business.

So how have we gone about achieving this over the past year or so?

New website and brand

We’re really pleased with our refreshed branding and new, easy-to-navigate website. We know branding and a website can be the first interaction a customer or potential customer has with us and we think we can now truly showcase who we are and what we’re all about.

It’s also important that our customers can easily access our products and services and know that we’re passionate about remaining relevant and keeping on-trend with what our customers’ needs and requirements are in an ever-evolving world.

New warehouse extension

We recently expanded our distribution warehouse with a new 680-pallet, 13,000sq ft space. Why did we decide to invest heavily in our premises? Additional space, increased capacity in terms of machinery and staff are all plus points but equally, extended loading bays ensure we can offer, in the main, next day delivery – it’s all about adding value to our clients.

At the start of the year, we completed the construction of our new consumables building. This dedicated space for materials used in the making of cardboard packaging allows for more space on the manufacturing floor. More storage space means a larger capacity for production and – aligned to our new warehouse extension outlined above – this greatly enhances our ability to meet the needs of our customers efficiently and in a timely manner.

New machinery

Of course, all our exciting new developments rely on us having first-class equipment and in this area we have worked hard to ensure we have just that – modern, reliable, innovative machinery that helps us deliver the high quality of service you expect. To this end, we have invested in a new Multi-Point Gluer machine which offers a host of enhanced features, such as enabling us to produce a straight line, 4 and 6 corner-glued design boxes; helping us create ready-for-retail packaging without the need for tape and additional fastening – providing great environmental benefits too.

We’re not stopping there. In late 2019 we will acquire a new inline Topra GD Flexo Folder Gluer Inline Gluer machine and again the benefits to our customers are numerous – for a start, it will provide higher print quality and has greater operating and production speeds meaning reduced lead times and, consequently, faster turnarounds.

New staff

And the most important development and investment – our people. We’ve expanded our growing team in recent times with the addition of two new sales coordinators. We were delighted to welcome Laura Woolley and Katie Hart to the sales team in 2018 and 2019 respectively and both continue to play a crucial role as we strive for further growth and excellence. And just last month, Joanne Standen who is a new addition to the production team.

Regarding the recent developments, our Managing Director Mark Wilcockson said: “We have invested a lot recently in terms of time, effort and capital but throughout we have remained fully focused on why we are investing – and that’s to create a positive culture where our staff are empowered to do the best for our clients and, importantly, have the environment and the tools to deliver. Given our commitment to this, it’s unsurprising that we’re enjoying a period of growth.”

Technical Sales Manager Melissa Wilcockson added: “A lot of work has gone on – and continues to go on – behind the scenes but it’s also crucial that we get the front end right in terms of how we present ourselves and showcase who we are and what we are all about to the world. Our new website is the embodiment of this and will also play a major role in our future sales strategy moving forward.”

We’ve been busy but we won’t stop there. We’ll continue to innovate, push barriers and offer the best service to you, our customers because as we mentioned at the start, to stand still is to go backwards.
