Why we think outside the box – and why our customers thank us for it
“You have to hold yourself accountable for your actions, and that’s how we’re going to protect the Earth” – the words of renowned environmental activist Julia Hill.
There was a time not so long ago that being an environmentally sustainable business, one that actively looked to reduce its carbon footprint and reduce the impact of climate change was seen as an option, not a necessity.
A green strategy, an appreciation of corporate social responsibility – these were all ‘nice to haves’ to many, however, it’s now crystal clear that these perceptions have changed; and not a moment too soon.
For us at the Corrugated Case Company, we look at the bigger and the smaller picture. Climate change is a global issue but these issues affect all of us, including the communities we serve and work in.
We have great pride in making a positive difference to our communities both here in the heart of the East Midlands and, as one of the UK’s leading specialists in the design and manufacture of corrugated packaging products, this is a responsibility that extends across all corners of the country.
As Ban Ki-Moon, who served as the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations, states: “The costs of adapting are less than the cost of doing business as usual. And the benefits many times larger” and it’s a view that certainly resonates with us.
That’s because we don’t just have ourselves and our own sustainable credentials to think about, we also have a big responsibility to our diverse customer base. That’s because if we’re getting packaging right, we’re helping to build a more sustainable, environmentally viable future and boosting their credentials in this crucial area too.
So how do we make sure we follow through? Put simply – we think outside the box.
Here are just five ways our method of packaging, our values and the way we work, enhance ours – and our customers’ – sustainability credentials and helps exceed client expectations in the process.
Carbon Trust Standard
We use materials in our packaging that reaches the high benchmark of the Carbon Standard Trust – the world’s leading independent certification of an organisation’s achievements in tackling climate change.
As our name suggests, we’re committed to using corrugated packaging. Did you know that corrugated cardboard is the most recycled packaging material in the world? In fact, 96% of corrugated cardboard produced in 2018 was recovered for recycling (Source: Corrugated.org).
Ahead of the curve and aligned to public thinking
A report published in The Telegraph last year suggested that 89% of UK-based consumers would choose to shop in an outlet that proactively encouraged suppliers to adopt more sustainable forms of packaging. We can offer our clients – and by extension their own consumers – those same reassurances.
A business for all seasons
